The Queen's Room

I have a confession to make. Other than the main quilt display wall where I hang my large quilts in the hearth room, I have no walls on which to hang my quilts.

I have 38 very, very large windows in this house, for which I am glad. But! No walls for quilts, for which I am sad.

I could hang a quilt in the upstairs guest bedrooms, but I wouldn't get to see it, or enjoy it, so I don't. After a few months of being in this house, I discovered that I could use the downstairs powder room, AKA the Queen's room as a display wall, too!

I got busy and stencilled the room, and over the last couple of years, I've found garden accessories that I like, too.

This is the entry wall - it's not really tilted...

Flowers on the bottom of the wall...

And this is above the "throne"...

So now, there is a small quilt rack hanging in there, and all my guests always make a comment after visiting this little room off the hearth room! The quilt that is hanging there is a special wool one that my Not So Secret Quilting Buddy from a small on-line friendship group made for me. It was perfect hanging there since this Christmas. Tomorrow, I am going to change it for Le Fleurs de Jardin.

You'd definitely feel like a queen in that throne room! I love your stenciling, Sharon- Wow! You got very creative in such a small space and I love that! Dressler... is that the name of that stencil designer? I have one of her stencils that I completely forgot about! It cost me $50- don't tell anyone. ooo... got me thinking! Mine is of wildflowers- trilium and ferns and such. And my walls look to be the exact same shade- yours look great!

Funny you should mention Dressler stencils. I really really wanted the Dressler stencils with the garden gate and birdbath, but I just wouldn't/couldn't spend that kind of money on a stencil. Would you believe that all the stencils I used (and more that I didn't) all came from JoAnn's using their half price coupons? LOL! Quite a collection of them. Some were on long panels with overlays, and others were just the small pink cutouts where you have to really use your imagination for the colors.

I love this room, though, and I wish I could do more in other rooms, but Hubby thinks one girly room in the house is enough - thus it is called the Queen's Room.

I love your room, the stenciling is so neat. I especially love that little wool quilt hanging on the wall! Lucky you having a not so secret friend like that.

Ahem....
The KING would like to remind everyone that this is the ONLY "convenience" room on the main level, and the king's tushie fits the custom crafted all-wood and brass interface device just fine too, thank you very much. And, since we're talking "Squatter's rights," those happen to be MY collection of motley magazines in the reading rack, unless the Queen has developed a hidden interest in fishing for King Salmon or hiking among the grizzlies.....

Oh! You two Royal subjects must have a great time together! Too funny!

The whole room...stencils and quilts and all...are just delightful. Do any of your guests get all caught up in the decor and forget to come out of there???
