No excuses, I have been a bad blogger. I really have missed blogging, but then on the other hand, I've been so caught up in life, that Blogger was the last thing on my mind.
After I moved the stewdio all back into place, my computer just wasn't where it was convenient to get to. I use my Ipad and my Smartphone all the time for my mail and short Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-21114024705875922712013-10-27T15:38:00.004-05:002013-10-27T20:30:03.217-05:00"OUR NATIONAL PARKS" PROJECTThe Rambling River Art Quilters are a group of quilters from the St. Louis, MO and Kansas City, MO metrolpolitan area. For more information about them and to see their previous projects check their blog. This is their 2013 project. It was revealed in Columbia, MO on Saturday, October 26th, and of course, there was some fabric therapy included. Each group decided how Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-32754025214159051792013-06-12T16:07:00.001-05:002013-06-12T21:09:04.675-05:00And so it is!So, it's been a really long time coming hasn't it? The downstairs finishing didn't take any longer than what was promised, so that's a good thing. They also finished my upstairs (main) living room hardwood floor as promised, so that's a good thing too! It's just that my unpacking and putting things away took ever so much longer than *I* had planned. My energy just fizzled out! Lots of work in the soon to be finished studio and family room downstairs!
I've been running around in circles, and the progress on the remodel/basement finish has been phenomenal. I won't bore you with the hundreds of photos we've taken of the framing, insulation, wiring and drywall work. Instead, here's where we are as of 5pm today, April 2.

I don't believe it. This is what we had just last week, and we are still digging out of it!
We live in a maintenance provided community, but when the city truck came by, they plowed the end of the driveway back in! The top picture shows me making a path for Mayo the Wonder Dog who doesn't like getting her pinky toes in the snow.

I took today just for me! I walked the dog a couple of times with my friend (which I still consider time for me), but that was all! Hubby was sweet and made our lunch and a delicious dinner. It was a nice quiet day with me at the sewing machine, and he reading the last of his book.
Why did I want this time today? Well, I worked 53 hours and drove 886 miles in 6 days!Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-60861678007957560442013-02-06T17:42:00.000-06:002013-02-06T17:42:46.207-06:00Fun, fun! After I read the book in my last post, I have been itching to paint, fuse and play in my strewdio. I let all the ideas in my head simmer, and I finally decided I would play with some of the ideas that the book led me to.
All of this involved some paint, some fusible web, some sample stretch velvet scraps, some chiffon pieces and other various and sundry scraps gifted me a couple of weeks agoQuiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-30390416854698923302013-02-03T21:17:00.000-06:002013-02-03T21:17:20.911-06:00Super WeekI've had a marvelous week, even though it's been cold, then in the 70's then cold again. That's winter in the Midwest, for sure! I haven't been able to ride my bike or start my C25K (Couch to 5K) program outside, but I have been working inside a little bit.
The two ongoing scrap projects I've been working on continue to excite me! I received my exchange blocks from Bobbi and Deck the other Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-2887164964455191812013-01-26T17:21:00.004-06:002013-01-26T17:21:55.156-06:00Another week It's been really cold here, with periods of sunshine. We are still way below the amount of rainfall that we need. It is supposed to rain a little bit tonight and tomorrow, but I don't think it will be enough to matter much. I am getting a bit weary of the cold, but that is winter in the Midwest!
Not much new here this week. I've worked a little bit, played a little bit and sewn a little bitQuiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-52983186518797074252013-01-20T19:20:00.004-06:002013-01-20T19:23:28.306-06:00An almost perfect weekBefore I get too far into this year, I need to start with the end of last year first! Where oh where is Quiltgranny?
This "disappearing act" seems to have been a regular thing with me for the last 6 months or so, but I can assure you I have my feet back under me now, and the wind in my sails!
I could tell you that I've been sick (which I have), I could tell you that the family has been sick (which they have), or I could tell you that the dog ate my Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-32367597746870856892012-11-21T20:04:00.000-06:002012-11-21T20:08:29.422-06:00Happy ThanksgivingQuiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-10098175199027676892012-11-16T20:28:00.000-06:002012-11-16T20:28:56.620-06:00Well, since I returned from Michigan, I've been to the Des Moines IA Quilt Show, and helped with our local guild's quilt show and kept working on my flower job AND getting my stewdio all ready. Along with the normal craziness, there you have it!
Since this will be a short post (I can't keep waiting until I have the time to write everything I want), I will post the pictures of my new Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-773783539202601882012-09-19T18:09:00.000-05:002012-09-19T18:09:42.494-05:00Where in the world is QuiltGranny? Missing in action, you ask? Swallowed by the mounds of fabric? Lost in her stewdio?
No, not at all! I've been off to my annual Beaver Island Quilt Retreat with Gwen Marston and 30 of my closest (once a year) best quilting buddies. We meet in Elk Rapids, MI now, at the White Birch Lodge where Gwen has been hosting this retreat for the last 8 or so years. Before that, and until 9/11,Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-32363111686834050612012-09-01T14:23:00.003-05:002012-09-01T14:23:48.669-05:00Time and inspiration! We all have the same amount of time in our day, and the older I become the less there seems to be. How can that be? My time seems to be spent doing most of the things I want, interrupted occasionally by "required" things like shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. Yet, when I look at what I am doing, I know there are some things that I have really let take over my time.
Facebook isQuiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-15521452010279485552012-08-25T17:10:00.003-05:002012-08-25T17:10:48.724-05:00And sew it goes!
I am still using every spare moment to organize. It's been interesting as I've fondled handled all this fabric while it is finding it's new home. When I first started quilting, there weren't that many quilt shops, and if I saw fabric I liked, I bought it, without thinking about what I was going to use it for. At that time, I did primarily hand applique work.  Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-22908420093867197012012-08-12T21:52:00.001-05:002012-08-12T22:50:29.860-05:00Stewdio Rebirth I've been working every spare minute I have, wrapping fabric on the new mini-bolts, and re-packing stuff to leave the house. So far, I've taken two car loads of things out of the house to be donated - things that I thought I would use at this new house, but now I find I don't miss them, and I don't really want them anymore. So gone, gone, gone!
I also have been loading a box Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-78054623113458328222012-08-04T18:07:00.001-05:002012-08-04T18:07:14.723-05:00Happy Hearts Today was a stitch day with the Amazing Quilt Babes. We all worked on our own projects, and surprisingly we all got quite a bit done! Vicky worked on her piano key borders for a Dresden Plate from several years ago, Shirlee worked on getting her "project to go" applique freezer paper patterns. Carol cut backgrounds and sashing for an embroidery project. Ibby worked on completing some Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-16977211011594236252012-07-30T21:05:00.003-05:002012-07-30T21:05:37.867-05:00Progress! Since my last post, I've been a busy little beaver! I've organized all the blue fabrics, and the Aunt Gracie's 30's reproductions. I've washed and washed and washed fabrics as I've worked. Of course, I have a little help now and again when I am wrapping fabric on my mini-bolts. Ms. Bonnie is quite happy to help! I am ruler-folding the fat quarters up to 2 yards, and making scrap tubs Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-42899039503126416302012-07-21T10:50:00.000-05:002012-07-21T10:50:21.658-05:00And sew on or otherwise known as She won't be featured on Hoarders!!This time last year found me moving in the heat wave of the year. And sew it goes this year too. No, not moving in, but moving around! And another heat wave!
As you might (or not) remember, when I moved, it took an entire POD to move my fabric and junk, sewing supplies, machines and all the stuff that goes with what we do.
Just the beginning, it got filled to the brim!
We moved in Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-67067993983135983402012-07-02T18:40:00.001-05:002012-07-02T18:40:30.546-05:00More quilts from Wichita KSI have a lot more to share this week, so I'll get right to it and share some more of my favorites from the Wichita KS quilt show. The first one is another one that I'd like to make. I love the scrappiness as well as the geometric pattern. Does anyone know this pattern? I'm sure think I can figure it out, but if someone else has, I'd like to reward them by buying THEIR pattern!
Wowsers! &Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-65368501257954292492012-06-24T09:52:00.000-05:002012-06-24T09:52:15.260-05:00Quilt Show! Every two years the Wichita Kansas quilt guilt, Common Threads, has a humongous show. I'd heard about it, but it seemed that I was always doing something else that weekend so I have never gone. Wichita is 3 hours west of where I live, certainly doable as a day trip. As a matter of fact, my very own guild took a bus trip there the opening day!
Because I get motion sickness on a bus, Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-6601764794480813682012-05-30T18:27:00.000-05:002012-05-30T18:27:39.159-05:00HOORAY, HOORAY!
Look what's happening at my house today!
Can you believe this?
Coming AND going!
I've had so many things going at one time time, I wondered if I was in the circus, juggling and running through the flames, and dodging the running horses! But, no, it's just my crazy life.
I absolutely love our new home. We have wonderful neighbors, the walking trails are gorgeous, and the house Quiltgrannyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18442794943252912695noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5612466.post-60267462992968598792012-04-06T22:38:00.001-05:002012-04-06T22:38:07.714-05:00Happy Spring, Happy Easter!
