I just changed the quilt on my hearth room display wall to one that is appropriate for Flag Day through the Fourth of July. It's about 80" square, and I made it in honor of my son when he was in Iraq. Now, he's coming home, and I hope he will enjoy seeing it as a welcome home. I probably should have changed out the flowers on top of the rack to something red, white and blue as well, but that's just not going to happen this year! LOL!
What a beautiful flag for Flag Day--great job! Congrats on your son coming home from Iraq.
ReplyDeleteHow patriotic...I know you're thankful your son is coming home. This quilt will always have a memory attached.

Lovely quilt - like the placement of the HST's just between the points and not in the corner squares - so effective. You must be very relieved your son is on his way home safe and sound - the US have suffered far more casualties then us in the UK and we feel sad enough - it'll be terrific for you to have him home:o)
ReplyDeleteGreat patriotic quilt - and BIG - that display wall must be large to hang that large of a quilt! Very cool! I want that!
ReplyDeleteGreat bold patriotic quilt. So thankful your son is coming home safe.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt- and- so happy your son is coming home!

So glad to hear he is coming home safe. He will love the quilt...I don't think he will notice if the flowers don't match! If I remember correctly the only think I wanted was lots of showers, fresh vegetables, cold anything to drink, and some quiet time!

A very appreciative thank you to your son and all the others like him who give so much so we can live as free as we do. God bless him and all of you in their families that go through the terrible separation.
ReplyDeleteLast week there was a funeral for the first Iowa mother killed in Iraq...so sad for her 11 year old daughter left behind.
Lovely quilt!
